In CSJ’s experience, the criminal justice system often fails to meet victim needs or repair harm arising from abuse. For cases that enter the criminal justice process, we’ve learned that access to trained and sensitive advocates helps shield victims from re-traumatization and increases the likelihood that cases end in conviction.

But child victims and their families sometimes want another choice when pursuing justice, especially if it helps them disclose abuse, minimize re-traumatization, and recover from abuse.
